Wattage 1WATTAGE

Wattage grew out of a weekly jam session on the Central Coast where old hands and newbies were driven by a common desire to play music for enjoyment, develop their skills or simply learn to play an instrument.
The genres were as diverse as the players, from blues to folk , ballads to country, pop to acoustic.
As time progressed it was evident there was a common core developing that wanted to perform publicly and take the next step.
Wattage had come of age.
At first the focus was on Rock and Blues, this now includes a variety of old and new popular covers. Originals are becoming an integral part of their set lists as they have passionate songwriters within the group.

WATTAGE LINE-UP:

Graham Blake  (aka G-MAN/ ANIMAL)  - Drums and Percussion
Played in bands in the 80’s & 90’s (the Locals, Tunnel Vision, Tar Babies) before marriage and raising a family, also a guitarist and songwriter.. Graham states “he still has the desire to create some good music and rock out.”

Deanna Bocking  - Vocals and percussion
Deanna has always loved music and has enjoyed performing from a young age. She is especially excited to be performing now in Wattage, after a break of over 20 years, and to be showcasing popular songs as well as her own original music. Singing is what she always wanted to do, but life got in the way. Not this time – this is her time to rock!

Christie Chen  - Guitar and vocals
Coming from the land of the dragon about 20 years ago, Christie is a surgeon turned accountant turned musician, and many things in between. She plays guitar and sings, mainly pop, rock and blues genres and has started songwriting, drawing inspiration from the personal world around her.

Tim Davis  - Harmonica, vocals & percussion.
A country lad who learnt to love music on his red HMV transistor radio as a kid.
Fortunately, according to Tim, it was blues, not C & W.
He says he now has the time and space to exercise his passion for developing his musical skills.

Graeme Ellis (aka COOL HAT)  - Guitar and back-up vocals.
Played guitar in a band in the 60’s (Basic Sound), then Uni, marriage, children and work commitments.
Subbed in a band The Struggle in the 90’s and this reignited his passion to pick up the guitar again. His influences are broad including Blues, Rock, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Pop and R&B.

Vic Val  - Bass and Vocals
Man of few words, loves playing the bass and states “ best fun you can have standing up.”

Our Brackets South event takes place on top beautiful Kincumba Mountain. The community built venue is a mud brick and natural timber building which sits in a bushland reserve, with panoramic views of Brisbane water and magnificent sunsets over the hills beyond.

This venue is the birthplace of Brackets and Jam on the Central Coast and the community considers it as it's spiritual home. The Mountain itself holds a strong significance for our Aboriginal community and has been a long-standing meeting place for Central Coast people. The rock outcrop situated in front of the kiosk forms a natural pool which is said to have once been a sacred birthing place for women. The Mountain now gives birth to many new beginnings as the hub of creative community arts in the southern Central Coast region.
